Today I was reminded of something I always knew but seemed to forget, which is that every decision you made today cost you something.

I felt a little angry at myself today for accepting something I hate just to avoid conflict, even though I knew that is almost never a good idea because it’s just another form of instant gratification, it will repeat itself until I actually deal with it.

By accepting it now, I get the comfort of avoiding conflict, but I am sure it will come up again later and I will have to deal with it.

Just think about your day. Every choice replaced another.

I am sure you had to make some decisions today.

You made a decision to get out of bed or not. You made a decision to work or not. To watch a movie, spend some time on TikTok, or maybe watch some tutorials on YouTube.

Whatever you do, you trade it off with something else, and whatever you choose to trade off is what you decide to be the least in your hierarchy of priorities, whether you said it or not.

And if you understand this and base your decisions on your main priority, I am sure you are going to make better decisions.

There is always an opportunity to prioritize immediate comfort.

I could have decided not to spend the time writing this post and instead scroll on Instagram, but I knew that if I did, I would trade off the reward I would get from writing this post, which is a more relaxed and less angry mind from using my brain to do something I consider important.

That is why, if I were to give you one single piece of advice and nothing else ever, I would say: be conscious of the trade-offs you make daily.

The more you trade off immediate comfort for bigger rewards later, the more those rewards will compound and make you someone you can only dream of now.

Cheers 🥂
