If you’re trying to succeed in the online work world, you have to learn how to detect when someone is being dishonest, because all the noise on the internet today is your biggest enemy.

YouTube is one of the best places to learn new things, get exposed to new ideas, and discover opportunities you might never have known existed. Unfortunately, before you get to genuinely helpful content, you have to go through a ton of dishonest content, unrealistic ideas, and plain noise.

I recently saw someone on YouTube teaching a way to make money online by creating social media accounts using celebrity names, screen-recording their livestreams, and re-uploading them to monetize.

This is complete trash. If you listen to things like this, you’ll waste your valuable time, and sometimes your money, without achieving anything.

Unfortunately, unrealistic content now far outweighs realistic content. As a complete beginner in the online work world, it can be difficult to know what is realistic and what isn’t. As a result, you can end up exhausting your energy taking action on things that will never work.

The main problem is that YouTube rewards views, not helpful content. Most people who start YouTube do so with the goal of making as much money as possible, so they do whatever brings the most views and revenue.

That’s why they play games with your desire for a better financial future.

And do you know who is most vulnerable to these scams? It is lazy ambitious people.

People without ambition don’t even think much about achieving big things. But if you want to achieve great things quickly, and you’re not willing to replace comfort and social life with hard work and sacrifice, you become the perfect target for scams.

Almost everyone teaching a get-rich-quick scheme starts by saying, “This is not a get-rich-quick scheme.” Yet you only need to listen for less than a minute to realize that’s exactly what they’re selling.

This noise and these unrealistic ideas are your biggest enemies if you want to succeed in the online work world.

Sometimes it’s hard for someone new to the online world to tell what’s real and what’s hype, but many times, it’s actually very easy.

If something requires very little effort, anyone can do it, there are no real barriers, and it promises success within a short timeframe, there’s a very high chance it’s a scam. That is the definition of “get rich quick.”

Real, sustainable opportunities take time, effort, and sacrifice. Use this as a filter to decide whether an idea is worth your attention or not.

The sooner you stop listening to noise and focus on realistic, sustainable paths, the faster you’ll achieve your goals.

Cheers 🥂
