I used to struggle with anxiety anytime I worked on something big or tried to achieve something I was deeply invested in.

Sometimes I would get so anxious that I physically felt unwell. And after everything I’ve done over the past 10 years, I came to a realization that has helped me a lot whenever I am working toward something important.

And that realization is simple: “I did my best.”

Deep in my heart, without a doubt, whatever it is I am working on or trying to achieve, I know I truly did my best. And knowing that alone is enough to make me proud.

If I end up getting the thing, amazing! If I don’t, it still doesn’t change the fact that I did my best. And there is literally nothing more I could have done.

This realization has helped me be at peace with most of the things I do.

Now, if you are working on something big, trying to achieve something meaningful, can you honestly say to yourself, “I did all that I could?” If the answer is yes, then you don’t have to worry about the outcome, because there is truly nothing else you could have done to change it.

I have no doubt that if you always do everything you can, you will consistently see progress in your life. Because there is one open secret that everyone knows.

And that secret is this: the vast majority of people do the bare minimum and then lie to themselves and say they are doing everything they can. That is why if you actually do everything you can, you WILL get ahead.

In the next few weeks, we will be in 2026. A new year.

And by the last week of the month, I will audit my previous 12 months of progress, see how far I have come, and then write down the exact position I am in at that moment. After that, I will close the book and not open it again until the next 12 months.

That is how I measure my progress.

And that is how I compete with my previous self, year after year.

We all have our weaknesses. It might be instant gratification. It might be shiny object syndrome. It might be a lack of self-discipline. Whatever your biggest weakness has been this year, the one that slowed down your growth, make it a goal to overcome it. And maybe in the next 12 months, that weakness will no longer have the power to hold you down.

I want to always be able to say, “I did my best.”

What about you?

Cheers 🥂
